‘Cupid’s Ground Bass’ is an incredibly exciting project in which we will be exploring the absolute extremities of love within the repertoire of composers such as Francesco Cavalli, Andrea Falconieri, Barbara Strozzi and Claudio Monteverdi! These recordings will include our own composed written-out instrumental diminutions and arrangements of some absolutely sublime arias. Many of these arias will feature the myriad of popular ground bass from this time. Vocal and instrumental interweaving will be broken up with the purely instrumental music of contemporary composers from this groundbreaking period of musical history by which we as a group are constantly astonished.
