The English Cornett & Sackbut Ensemble joins forces with The Marian Consort for a sideways celebration of the 500th anniversary of the birth of the ‘Prince of Music’, Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina.

BACHxPALESTRINA includes a rare performance of Palestrina’s Missa sine nomine a6 as arranged by Bach with added cornetts, sackbuts and continuo. We also perform vocal motets by Bach, including his sublime 'Jesu Christ, mein Lebens Licht' BWV118 and music by Schütz, Viadana, and Gabrieli, much of which was either written for, or performed by Leipzig’s Thomanerchor.
