‘Alla Milanese’ explores the connections between musicians at the heart of the Milanese scene for experimental music at the birth of the Baroque era, c.1590-1620. There is a special focus on lesser-known composers (with many unfamiliar pieces newly edited especially for this project) and we aim to shine a light on the activities of underrepresented female musicians at this important point of transition in music history. With Continuo Foundation support, The Gonzaga Band will mark the album release of ‘Alla Milanese’ (on Resonus Classics) with a series of workshops and a filmed concert in February 2023.
