Dance of the Nations

Image-empty-state.png
Dance of the Nations is an interdisciplinary collaboration between Manchester Baroque and internationally renowned historical dancers Ricardo Barros and Kath Waters, with the aim of continuing to explore Manchester’s cultural history. By 1750 benefit concerts were well established in Manchester, and frequently accompanied by an evening ball. These were held fortnightly in the city’s central venues, including the 'New Theatre' King Street and the 'Assembly Room' on Market Street, both close to the venue of our own concert. Using original choreographies, we will perform a variety of repertoire from across Europe, including Couperin’s Grand Ritornelle and Lully’s Bourgeois Gentilhomme. Photo credit - Claudia Terpstra
